Dear Prospective Client and Friend,
Update as of September 2008 -
As you read on, you will notice that I once booked all my appointments personally. I have since changed that policy, and all my booking calls now go through my dear assistant and niece, Ruby Katz. Ruby will set the date and time for your reading. If you have booked a Spiritual Mediumship Reading, I will contact you two or three days prior to your appointment for a pre-reading consultation, so that we might discuss any particular concerns you have. Please note that I do not pre-read for Transpersonal Intuitive Life Readings. Please take these booking and pre-reading policies into consideration as you read on. Thanks!
Because I learn so much from the interesting questions I am asked while setting up an appointment and then engaging with you during the readings, I feel that every couple of years I need to freshen up not only my entire web site, but I like to use this letter to my prospective clients as a way of clarifying the questions or concerns that most often come up prior to and during readings. This also gives me a chance to make some personal statements about how I view my own role in the spiritual intuitive process. I have now rewritten much of my web site giving deeper explanations with the hope that you will know more about how I approach my work by the time that we speak to set up your appointment. Please take time to read the Home Page and the specific information about Transpersonal Intuitive Life Readings and the Spiritual Mediumship Readings, as well as this letter, before you telephone me. I respect my clients and learn so much from all of you, but it is important for you to know that I feel that I do my best work with people who are truly seeking to help themselves and who are willing to expand their consciousness as they enrich their own life path and spiritual journey. If you will please do me the favor of reviewing my web site prior to calling me, I will then understand that you are very serious about your reasons for seeking a reading. This way I will not have to repeat so much of the information offered throughout these pages when we do finally get the chance to chat, and we can REALLY get down to the amazing details of what you want to focus on.
I devote a lot of time to speaking personally with all of my prospective and established clients prior to setting an appointment date. Many people tell me that they appreciate this contact, and I embrace this time as an opportunity to discuss any particular concerns you might have about what will happen during your reading. Everyone has unique needs and expectations, and our talk will help me to guide you toward someone else whom I highly respect if I feel that I am not the right person to help you. If we are not a good fit for one another it does not mean there is anything wrong with you; it would mean that I either do not do the sort of work you are looking for, or that I feel there is someone else better suited to your needs. I like to believe that by speaking with each other in depth prior to your actual appointment, you will not feel as if you are calling a complete stranger when it comes time to discuss some of the most important topics of your personal and spiritual life. We do this work together, and so our understanding of one another and our ability to clearly communicate is very important.
When it comes to any reading it is important to keep in mind a wise piece of dialogue that I once heard from the 1945 movie, Yolanda and the Thief: "Heaven is NOT a gypsy tea room." This work is not to be taken lightly. For several reasons, many professionals in my field state that they do this work for "entertainment purposes." While that might be the case, I personally do not view the work I do as entertaining. Many people have an assumption that information from Spirit flows effortlessly and abundantly with absolute accuracy. This is not the case! Spirit may be right on the mark, but mediums have to correctly receive and relay that information. Despite the stringent double-blind mediumship experiments for scientific research that I took part in, and despite all the years wherein my clients have confirmed information that could not been known to anyone else other than themselves and a deceased person as being highly valid and correct, I still do not know how this amazing process actually happens. I know it does happen, but how it happens remains a mystery to me. The day I take any of this for granted is the last day I ever do a reading.
The one main question that established and prospective clients always ask me is "how does intuition work?" "How do you communicate with Guides and people who are no longer alive?" Being devoted to this work as a spiritual path and having years of solid experience is certainly part of the equation, but there are a large number of cynics and skeptics who believe that the work we do is somehow fraudulent. I have a healthy respect for skeptics because there certainly are many frauds who prey upon grieving and vulnerable people and take advantage of them financially and emotionally. If you ever encounter anyone whom you feel to be an actual fraud, please contact me or anyone on my Links page and let us know about your experience. As in any profession, we need to police ourselves, and there are times when I have counseled a client to actually contact their local police department because they have not only been emotionally and spiritually defrauded, but they have been defrauded out of an enormous amount of money. You know more about your life and your circumstances than any "psychic" or medium ever can. It is very important that you are clear and honest with yourself about why you want to have a reading and what your expectations are. PLEASE, never ever try and make anything that anyone might tell you be the final word when making a decision. Trust yourself, and always use good and balanced judgment and wisdom when reviewing all information that comes from any reading. Even a reading that I do for you. Honest discussions about the intuitive arts and mediumship is what keeps intuitives and mediums honest. Ask questions. Ask for referrals to other professionals in the field. Speak to other clients who are willing to share their experiences with you. Educate yourself. Never put a medium or a "psychic" on a pedestal. We are as human as you are!
So, how does a medium receive information from a formally-living person? Who makes that happen? What is in the heart behind the mystery? There are many things that none of us ever get to know, and I am sure there are good reasons for that. So, when receiving the information that is available, keep in mind that all mediums or intuitives or 'psychics' (a word I disagree with as it is greatly misleading) are human, and we make human errors just like everyone else. Our best verification comes from our clients. You know what fits and what doesn't. Many intuitives say that they can always tell when someone is lying to them. For me, it is easier to tell when someone is lying to themselves. I have read people's projections or delusions that have seemed very real to me, and I have also seen images of a purposeful lie that someone may be holding in their own mind. This does NOT make me a mind reader, but I know when things do not feel right to me. I always tell a person when I feel I am off track in some manner. This sense can also happen when someone is not honest about why they want a reading. I will repeat this one more time because it is crucial in regards to the trust we place in one another: never glorify anyone who does this work, and be cautious of anyone who tries to get you to believe something that you know in your heart-of-hearts and in your gut is just not right. Honest intuitive work is hard work, and it is important for me that you know that I believe that the information which I receive on your behalf does not come from me, personally; the information comes to me and through me, and I am only able to give you the words, the visions, and the impressions that I receive from Spirit. In Shamanic terms, I am the "hollow bone" through which the information may be delivered. Of course I have opinions based on my own life and spiritual experiences, as well as impressions based on my training as a health-care professional and my studies and Masters Degree in Transpersonal Psychology. I have done intuitive work for most of my life, but I know when an impression is coming from me and when it is coming from a higher source. I will always be sure to make that distinction between what I think or feel and what is coming for you from Spirit.
You may assign whatever definition you wish to the word 'Spirit,' but for me this means that the information is coming from a much higher source of TRUTH for the purposes of healing and enlightenment. For you, that higher source may be your own Soul or Higher Self. Perhaps for you this higher energy is an Angel or a Spirit Guide, or an ancestor or a crossed-over loved one who is acting on your behalf. I work with the Light. I assume that I probably receive only about half of all the information that is available for me to hear or see or feel. I have no way of knowing the actual percentages of this belief, but during a reading my consciousness is not only focused on being receptive to what is being channeled through to me, I am also focused on what you are experiencing while I am performing the reading. It is a balancing act of clarity, faith, trust, and truth, and because I am a perfectionist about how I devote myself to my work, it can be a rather draining experience for my personal consciousness and my physical body. This is why I have begun to do fewer readings even though I never tried to do more than I felt I was grounded enough to do. When it comes to the amount of readings I feel I have the right energy to do, I go for QUALITY rather than QUANTITY. I prepare for every single reading by doing a deep meditation and pre-read so that when you phone me for your reading, I am aligned with the energies that have your highest good in heart, mind, and Spirit.
All mediums read and prepare in different ways. I do grounded readings so that I can bring through clarity and an aligned direction for you to reflect upon. Guessing is NOT channeling, and the impressions I receive for you are based on the sacred arts of clairaudience, clairvoyance, clairsentience, empathic connection, and common sense. I am highly empathic, and for me this means that my body is something like a weather vane. I tend to feel how people have died, and I feel the sensations of physical, emotional, and spiritual distress. Many times I get to feel the expansive blessings of a soul's joy, but because I am so sensitive I have begun to strictly limit any sort of medical intuitive work. Please keep in mind that many of your questions should and must be directed to medical professionals. I can not give you a diagnosis, but because of my medical background I may be able to offer intuitive clues for you to share with your health-care providers. Also, when people are seeking legal or financial clarity, it is imperative that you consult with a lawyer or an accountant or whatever sort of professional can most fully advise you prior to any actions you might take. Be forewarned to have caution when working with anyone who makes you feel that you must have additional readings with them or anyone who makes you feel that you must fit whatever they say into a picture you know is not true.
This does not happen very often, but there are times when I feel I need to stop the reading for some reason. Perhaps I sense that I am just off that day, or maybe I feel that someone needs a different sort of help than it turns out that I can offer. Sometimes I just don't feel connected. I do not like to give up, and the reading may shift from an actual reading into a conversation. I will always offer a complete refund if I do not feel that I am doing the right work. I will also refund your payment if you are unhappy with your reading. A reading is based on a partnership of trust, and it is NOT good for me if it is not good for you.
In closing, I want you to now that there is no question that can not be asked or discussed during a reading, but I will NEVER predict a death. I am asked to do this quite often, and even if I could know such information there is no way I would ever speak of it. I consider that to be rather distasteful karma.
All said, (and sometimes more than once) please remember this:
~ I am NOT a fortune teller. No one can declare with utmost certainty what your future will hold.
~ I am most certainly NOT 100% accurate. Time will continue to tell what is a direct hit or a direct miss.
~ I will not be able to answer all of your questions. I never make anything up, and I do not read Tarot Cards.
~ I consider a reading to be something like a seed. Information should sprout and make more sense or manifest in some
important manner after your reading is complete. I look at that fact as a further sign of verification or validation.
~ Keep an open mind's eye to the way the Universe works, and know that you are more in control of your destiny than
you might ever imagine. Your Soul will not let you down. Trust yourself.
Namaste!!
Sally
